Come join us at the Grey Nuns Emergency Department for an opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a supportive, inclusive, team-orientated, and fast-paced environment. The Grey Nuns Hospital Emergency department is one of Edmonton’s highest volume Emergency Departments. Our team of health care professionals is focused on providing specialized Emergency care and urgent treatments in a community hospital setting. The Licensed Practical Nurse is an integral member of the ED team and provides a wide variety of nursing care to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families to make a positive difference toward their health and well-being. You will play a valued role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care with attention to promoting a positive patient experience to those we serve in the Emergency Department all while practicing and role-modelling our Covenant values of Respect, Compassion, Integrity, Collaboration, Stewardship, and Social Justice.

Description: The Registered Orthopedic Technician utilizes expert comprehensive skills to assess, plan and coordinate the evaluation of the patient using nursing knowledge and application and removal of casts, splints and traction apparatus. The incumbent will provide quality patient care through implementation, coordination, consultation, education and liaising with the interdisciplinary team. The Registered Orthopedic Technician acts as a resource to other health care professionals. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.
