About Us

The Academic and Researcher Experience Team (ARX) within Organisational Development works across functions to deliver strategic projects which engage and nurture academics and researchers to be collaborative, supportive and creative in increasingly competitive and challenging environment. Current key projects include the Researcher Skills Development Programmes, Festival of Early-Stage Researchers, Early-Career Researcher (ECR) Career Aspiration Programme and Mid-Career Researcher (MCR) Career Acceleration Programme.

About The Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to UCL’s status as a beacon for excellent research culture across the Higher Education Sector, driven by forging closer links with key stakeholders and communities.

As an Organisational Development (OD) Officer, you will provide crucial administrative and end-to-end support to the high impact programmes, initiatives and interventions delivered by the ARX team. You will also build your knowledge and skills within OD and contribute to the design, delivery, evaluation and reshaping of new and continuing projects.

Your responsibilities will involve (but are not limited to the following):

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the development of new learning interventions and continuing programmes within academic and researcher experience
  • Ensure effective use of digital platforms (including Microsoft Teams, Zoom) and the relevant learning management system (including MyLearning, Inkpath, Moodle, LearnUpon), in line with programme delivery.
  • Provide support with data gathering including surveys, focus groups, workshops and interviews
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations during the review, design and development of learning interventions.
  • Take ownership of communication via diverse channels such as mailing lists, weekly newsletter, and webpages
  • Nurture positive working relationships with key stakeholders, including internal colleagues, delegates and external training providers
  • Work across OD to identify areas for improvement for researcher development experience.

We will consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible. Please note, this is a hybrid role based onsite 1-2-days per week (Monday) plus any days with events that require in person attendance.

About You

As a Higher Education and or Research & Development organisational development or learning and development administrative professional, you have experience working within researcher development environments and understand researcher development needs. You have skills in organisation, customer service, administrative support and also have the ability to work effectively as part of multi-disciplinary project teams.

You prioritise making inclusion, diversity and intercultural awareness central to your way of working as well as bringing innovative ideas to improve the development of researcher and academic communities.

You Will Also Be Able To Demonstrate The Following

  • Excellent customer facing skills with the ability to demonstrate processes involved in providing a great service
  • Experience organising meetings, taking notes and writing minutes
  • Experience supporting the design, delivery and development of learning and development projects
  • Attention to detail with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced working environment.

Although not essential, any experience in data analysis, supplier management or broad understanding of development theory and associated techniques would be beneficial
