Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a six-month locum oral and maxillofacial consultant to support NHS waiting list recovery through weekend insourcing in the Midlands and northern areas. You will assess waiting-list patients, conduct specialty outpatient clinics, and perform oral and head and neck surgery including extractions, with flexible sessions between 8am and 6pm on weekdays or weekends.

Successful applicants will hold Specialist Register accreditation in OMF surgery, have NHS

Qualifications

• Specialist Register accreditation in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
• Full GMC registration.
• Current licence to practise.
• Demonstrable NHS consultant-level experience in OMF surgery.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage patients from NHS waiting lists.
• Conduct outpatient consultations and clinical examinations.
• Hold outpatient clinics.
• Perform oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures within training and competence.
• Carry out minor oral and head and neck surgery and extractions.
• Develop and discuss treatment plans with patients.
• Deliver high-quality care within a multidisciplinary team.
• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior colleagues.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation including follow-up plans.

Job description

Six-month locum role for an oral and maxillofacial consultant supporting NHS waiting list recovery through weekend insourcing lists in the Midlands and northern areas. Work centres on outpatient clinics, assessing waiting-list patients, and minor oral and head and neck surgery including extractions. Sessions are flexible, booked around availability between 8am and 6pm on weekdays or weekends, with specialty nurse and HCA support. Specialist Register accreditation in oral and maxillofacial surgery and NHS consultant experience are required.
