Job summary

The Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a bank consultant in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The role covers shifts from a single shift to extended stints across specialties, with duties including ward and board rounds, liaising with nurses, clinicians, patients and relatives, and supervising staff while maintaining high standards of clinical documentation.

Hours are as and when with no guaranteed minimum, covering evenings, weekends and on-call.

Qualifications

• GMC registration is required to practice.
• GMC designated body connected to the Trust with a minimum of 12 shifts per month.
• Experience at consultant grade is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Liaise between nurses, clinicians, patients and relatives to support safe care.
• Attend and participate in board rounds, ward rounds and related daily activities.
• Provide workplace supervision to other staff when requested.
• Maintain high professional standards, especially in documentation.
• Arrive on time for booked shifts and be available from the arranged start time.
• Attend local induction when working in new areas.
• Carry out other duties suited to the post and grade as advised by specialty staff.
