Job summary

LA International is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator with a focus on scalability, integrity and performance for core DB clusters. You will own production clusters and collaborate with the Senior DBA and Operations Manager across a wide range of Oracle technologies.

The role requires experiences in monitoring, tuning, backups, and recovery, with an emphasis on security, availability, and proactive issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Shared pool usage for performance tuning and resource management.
• DBMS_JOBS scheduling to automate jobs.
• Logical I/O considerations for query optimization.
• Locks management on the database objects.
• Monitoring sessions and session queries for health checks.
• Monitoring database availability and uptime.
• Monitoring online and archived log usage.
• Data export/import between environments as required.
• EARS call handling for Oracle DBA team.
• Change handling for Oracle DBA team.

Responsibilities

• Focusing on scalability, integrity, performance, availability, security, monitoring and troubleshooting of core DB clusters
• Owning core database clusters in Production as well as on a wide range of technologies
• Reporting into the Operations Manager and working alongside the Senior DBA
• Oracle schema object sizing.
• Monitor data block organisation.
• Monitor physical storage and contention.
• Monitor tablespace utilization
• Memory usage.
• Physical I/O tuning.
• Lock monitoring.
• Database resource utilization.
• Alert log, Backup status
• Database free space.
• Performance tuning ratios
• Check Invalid objects
• Monitor build-up of trace files.
• Monitor growth of alert logs.
• Purge log and trace files, which are no longer required.
• Database Monitoring
• Cache (Buffer Cache, Library Cache, Dictionary Cache) hit/miss ratios
• Point in time database recovery, using on-line redo logs.
• Provide advice during database restoration following a crash or media failure.
• Monitor Archive log retention period for database recoverability and highlight issues / limitations.
• Ensure database changes are reflected into the backup strategy.
