Job summary

Hargreaves Lansdown is seeking a Database Engineer to support and improve our Oracle-centric database platforms in a production environment. You will contribute to automation, cloud adoption and resilience across the enterprise database estate.

In this role you’ll administer Oracle databases, perform RMAN backup and recovery, monitor performance, and collaborate with application, infrastructure and security teams to deliver reliable services. Experience with Linux and on-call support is required.

Qualifications

Experience administering Oracle database platforms in a production environment.
Experience supporting business-critical systems and services.
Experience performing Oracle RMAN backup, recovery and restore activities.
Experience working with Linux server environments.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders.
Willingness to learn new technologies and contribute to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Support and maintain HL's enterprise database platforms, with a primary focus on Oracle.
Monitor performance, availability and capacity to meet business needs.
Investigate incidents and changes following operating procedures and SLAs.
Perform routine maintenance including patching and housekeeping.
Assist with backups, disaster recovery and change management processes.
Create and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
Collaborate with application, infrastructure and security teams.
Participate in on-call rota and major incident activities when required.
