Looking for a change from the traditional testing room? Want to spend more time focusing on patients, enjoy a better work-life balance and still earn an excellent salary?
If you're an experienced Optometrist who enjoys building relationships with patients and wants to make a genuine difference through your work, this could be exactly what you're looking for.
We're working with a well-established domiciliary eye care provider looking to welcome an Optometrist to their growing team, covering Bournemouth, Dorchester, Salisbury, Blandford Forum and surrounding areas.
This isn't your typical Optometrist role. There's no busy shop floor, no sales targets to worry about and no weekend working. Instead, you'll be delivering essential eye care to patients who may otherwise struggle to access it, with the support of an experienced team behind you.
One of the biggest attractions of this role is the opportunity to practise optics in a completely different environment.
Rather than seeing patients in a traditional practice, you'll be visiting them in their own homes and care homes, providing a service that makes a real difference to their independence, comfort and quality of life.
Around 75% of your appointments will be in patients' homes, with the remaining 25% taking place in care homes.
Many of your patients will be elderly, and some may be living with dementia or other conditions that make visiting a high street optician difficult.
It's a role where your personality, patience and ability to put people at ease are just as important as your clinical skills.
You won't be expected to organise appointments, plan complicated routes or manage dispensing yourself.
The office team will arrange your daily schedule, grouping appointments geographically to make your travelling as efficient as possible.
You'll typically carry out around 8-11 eye examinations per day, depending on individual patient needs.
You'll also have the support of one or two Optical Assistants who work alongside you throughout the day.
They’ll help prepare patients ahead of your arrival, gather relevant information and take care of dispensing once you've completed the examination, allowing you to move on to your next appointment.
All your testing equipment will be provided, including trial frames, trial lenses and handheld examination equipment.
It's a well-organised way of working that allows you to concentrate on delivering excellent clinical care without the usual retail distractions.
We're ideally looking for an experienced Optometrist who is confident clinically but, more importantly, has a genuinely caring and approachable nature.
