Job summary

Huawei Ipswich Research Center is seeking a Design Engineer to design and characterize optoelectronic devices in III-V semiconductors. You will join the design team supporting R&D projects from concept to transfer to production, applying simulations, data analysis and ML techniques.

You will collaborate with peers across design, fabrication and test to deliver robust solutions and advance our photonics platforms at Ipswich. A PhD in a relevant field and strong Python skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • PhD in relevant semiconductor or device design.
  • Deep knowledge of optoelectronic device physics and familiarity with simulation tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects; strong data analysis skills.
  • Strong Python coding skills.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with customers and other designers to define technical delivery work-packages.
  • Collaborate with Design, Fabrication and Test to plan data gathering and verify results.
  • Perform RF simulations of III–V devices to meet project goals.
  • Apply machine learning to accelerate simulations and improve methods.
  • Generate insights from literature reviews and conferences to guide work.
  • Automate mask layout and PDK generation as required.
