Job summary

Refeyn in Oxford is seeking a System Engineer to lead the design, integration and verification of next generation mass photometry instruments. You will collaborate with research, software, product and operations teams to translate requirements into concrete specifications and architectures.

The role requires a strong optics/electro-optics background, hands-on experience with optical instrumentation, and proficiency in data analysis (C/C++, Python, Matlab). Hybrid work, competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Must have a BSc in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Self-starting and excited by a multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience in optics/electro-optics; PhD in microscopy/laser optics/Nano-optics desirable.
• Design/alignment/troubleshooting of optical equipment; microscopy systems.
• Data analysis in C/C++/Python/ Matlab or similar package.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and scientific insight to develop/deliver innovations in mass photometry from concept to production.
• Concepting, designing, building and troubleshooting prototype optical microscopy instruments.
• Analysing complex data sets from custom hardware to evaluate instrument performance.
• Collaborate with applications specialists, systems engineers and software developers on new designs.
• Define complex technical specifications and interpret them into new designs/features.
• Contribute to Refeyn's IP portfolio and identify patentable ideas.
• Stay updated on advances in light microscopy and light scattering.
