Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a professional and friendly manner.
• Interpret and understand a clinically issued prescription and its effects on the eye.
• Help customers choose spectacle frames that suit comfort, looks, and lifestyle.
• Explain frame features and benefits in plain language.
• Measure frames to ensure proper size and compatibility with lenses.
• Adjust spectacles for stability and comfort using proper tools.
• Perform basic frame repairs.
• Demonstrate knowledge of ophthalmic lenses, tints and coatings.
• Order prescription glasses and contact lenses for customers.
• Complete NHS paperwork and maintain written records per procedures.
• Book follow-up appointments for customers.
• Use a focimeter to extract prescriptions from spectacles.
• Explain contact lens suitability, features and benefits.
• Carry out pre-screening tests such as retinal imaging and pressure tests.
• Explain offers and products to customers.
• Process payments from customers.
• Troubleshoot basic optical concerns.
• Understand business KPIs and how they affect practice profitability.
