Job summary

Specsavers Northfield in Birmingham is offering an Apprenticeship for an Optical Assistant. You’ll spend 15-18 months in a paid role, learning the trade from a friendly, experienced team while earning a full-time wage.

This is an entry-level opportunity designed to develop skills in eye care, customer service, and product knowledge. You’ll be supported with on-the-job training, structured learning, and career development as you grow within the Specsavers network and deliver excellent customer

• GCSE Maths at grades 9–4 (A*–C) or equivalent qualification
• EU residence for at least 3 years with right to work in the UK
• Not currently enrolled in another government-funded course

Our store

Located in the heart of Northfield, our store is a busy and well-established store serving a diverse local community with both optical and audiology services. The store offers a modern and professional environment where colleagues work together to deliver outstanding customer care and support patients throughout their eye and hearing care journey. Conveniently situated within Northfield's main shopping area, the store benefits from excellent public transport links, with several local bus routes stopping nearby and Northfield railway station within walking distance, providing direct connections to Birmingham city centre and surrounding areas. As part of a friendly and customer-focused team, you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills, build lasting relationships with customers, and make a genuine difference to people's lives every day.

• £8.00 per hour
• Full Time - 37.5 hours per week, to include working a weekend day

Your on-the-job training will sit alongside structured learning and at the end of the 15-18 months as an apprentice, you’ll be a fully-fledged Optical Assistant.

Who is this Apprenticeship for?
