Job summary

NHS England is seeking an experienced Training Programme Director for Ophthalmology in North London. The post oversees ST7 residents regionally, supports academic residents across London, and manages the Level 4 SiA process, aligning with national standards and Royal College guidelines.

The successful candidate will work with the Head of School and the LaSE team to deliver high-quality patient-centred training and professional development in a collaborative NHS environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as an NHS Consultant with ophthalmology training background.
• Strong leadership and communication skills within a multi-professional team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Specialty’s Regional Training Programme.
• Address trainee and trainer concerns at the regional level.
• Recruitment to ophthalmology training posts and programmes.
• Manage postgraduate programme activities: assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, OOP management, and trainee careers.
• Collaborate with the Head of School, LaSE team and other departments on quality and standards.
