Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is offering a Staff Nurse – Ophthalmology in the Eye Emergency Department. Fixed Term Contract ending June 2027, designed for experienced nurses with a focus on rapid assessment and triage in ophthalmology.

You will join a high-functioning team of nurses, healthcare support workers, reception/admin staff, optometrists and doctors, working to meet the 4-hour wait target with strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience working in acute care settings is required.
• Interest in ophthalmology is essential.

Responsibilities

• Triaging patients who attend the eye emergency department.
• Independently facilitating tests and investigations under supervision of the nurse in charge and medical team.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary eye emergency team to meet care targets.
