Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) in Redruth is seeking an Operator (Stores) to join our West Cornwall team. You will carry out inspections, assist with stores maintenance and support asset inspection under instruction and safety procedures.

You should have English and Maths GCSE, a valid LGV Cat C license, and FLT training. You may be asked to work out of hours standby and to be mobile across the area as required. National Grid provides training and a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• English and Maths GCSE (1-9) or equivalent qualification such as Functional Skills.
• Valid LGV Cat C license is required.
• FLT training or certification is required.
• Flexibility for out of hours standby duties may be required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspection, maintenance and repair of tools and PPE.

Job description

Job Introduction

An opportunity his available for an Operator (Stores) based in Redruth to cover West Cornwall.

As an Operator (Stores) you may be involved in carrying out routine inspection, maintenance and repair of tools and PPE, assisting with the maintenance of stores and with the inspection of network assets as required. All necessary training will be provided.

To apply, you will need to hold English & Maths GCSE (1-9/G-A*) or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in these subjects, such as Functional Skills.

Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

Main Responsibilities

The working environment requires quick, decisive and responsible thinking and actions to meet the demands of the role. You will need to be flexible in your approach to assist the team in meeting it's objectives.

Ideal Candidate

Ideally you will hold a license to drive an LGV up to category C and already be trained to drive a Fork Lift Truck. You will be able to work under your own initiative, in a safety critical environment. Support will be provided to obtain any missing requirements that the successful candidate will be expected to obtain.

You will need to be mobile throughout the area and may be required to undertake out of hours standby duties as and when necessary, to meet business needs.
