National Grid Electricity Distribution in Worcester is seeking an Operator - Asset Inspector to inspect the distribution network assets up to 132kV and other statutory assets. Job Introduction

An opportunity is available for an Operator Asset Inspector based at our Worcester depot.

As an Operator - Asset Inspector you will be required to inspect National Grid's Distribution's network assets up to and including 132kV as well as other Assets within the Company that have a statutory inspection regime associated with them.

you willneed to holdEnglish & MathsGCSE (1-9/G-A*) or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in these subjects, such as Functional Skills.

Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

Main Responsibilities

This role involves working independently in the field and spending significant time away from the depot. You will be responsible for using the Company's asset management and inspection systems to identify and prioritise scheduled inspection activities.

Travelling to sites across the area to carry out inspections of Company assets, assessing their condition and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and procedures.

Accurate recording of inspection findings is essential, with all results entered either via a handheld electronic device on site or through Company computer systems upon return to the office. Any safety concerns, immediate risks, or dangerous conditions identified during inspections must be escalated promptly to the Operations Manager in accordance with Company procedures.

The role requires a proactive and responsible approach, with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced working environment. You will be expected to manage your workload effectively, meet performance targets, and demonstrate flexibility in response to changing operational priorities.

The successful candidate will have experience working outdoors and thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating the ability to make quick, responsible, and effective decisions while meeting the demands of the role. You will be target-driven, adaptable, and flexible in your approach, with a willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.

Excellent customer service skills are essential and as a representative of the Company, you will engage with customers, contractors, and members of the public in a professional, courteous, and positive manner at all times.

You will be a motivated individual who is eager to develop your skills and become fully competent in undertaking a wide range of asset inspection activities. Strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and a proactive attitude will be key to success in this role.

As the role involves travelling throughout the area, a full UK driving licence is essential. Operationally we require you to live within approximately 60 minutes of the depot you are applying for.
