We’re looking for a proactive and reliable Team Leader to join our Houshold Waste Recovery Centre team at Lynnbottom on the Isle of Wight.

As Team Leader, you’ll oversee the day’s tasks and activities at Lynnbottom , ensuring the site runs safely, smoothly and to a high standard. You’ll coordinate the team on shift, support safe working practices, and maintain a strong focus on customer service and environmental compliance. Reporting to the Waste Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering efficient daily operations.

The role will be working days only, 4 days on, 4 days off.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coordinate the site’s day-to-day operations, keeping everything running smoothly and safely.
  • Support, motivate and direct operatives on shift. Share knowledge and make sure everyone is on the same page.
  • Monitor health, safety and environmental standards, spotting and escalating issues early.
  • Keep the site tidy, efficient and welcoming for the public. Help spot ways to do things better.
  • Act as the point of contact for contractors, customers, and colleagues – you’ll help join the dots.

What you’ll need:

  • Experience in a similar setting – waste, recycling, or another fast-paced, operational environment
  • Confidence to take the lead and guide a team, even without formal line management
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, proactive approach
  • A genuine commitment to health and safety
  • Comfortable using handhelds or basic IT systems for logging and reporting

Desirable but not essential:

  • IOSH Working Safely or other H&S training
  • First aid or manual handling certification

In a single year we process 300,000 tonnes of waste that is turned into energy. This generates the same amount of energy as approximately 600 million solar panels. Similarly we recycle circa 95,000 tonnes of waste.
