Job summary

CHEP Durham site is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead day-to-day production and yard operations, ensuring safety, quality and targets are met each shift. You’ll spend most of your time on the shop floor, guiding a team of about 10 colleagues and resolving issues to keep the operation running smoothly.

This hands-on leadership role offers exposure across production and logistics, with opportunities to develop broader operational skills and progress into more senior roles.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities May Include:

• Lead by example within the assigned functional area, offering guidance and support to peers, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring smooth production operations.
• Actively support production activities, stepping in during shifts or breaks to maintain workflow and operational continuity.
• Collaborate with plant administration to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures, promoting consistency and operational compliance.
• Assist Plant leadership in enforcing policies and procedures to maintain inventory accuracy and ensure operational efficiency.
• Act as the subject matter expert for specialized areas, such as forklift operations, pallet sorting, or repair lines, providing expertise and ensuring best practices are followed.
• Fulfill assigned production duties, ensuring quality and efficiency in line with plant performance goals.

Shift Pattern: Rotating 2-shift pattern (6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm)

Lead from the front and help keep our operation running safely, efficiently and effectively.

CHEP is looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our Durham site. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of production and yard operations, ensuring safety, quality and operational targets are achieved every shift.

You’ll lead a team of approximately 10 colleagues, spending the majority of your time on the shop floor supporting your team, monitoring performance, resolving operational issues and ensuring the operation runs smoothly. The role also provides valuable exposure across both production and logistics activities, helping you develop a broad operational skillset.

• Experience leading teams within a manufacturing, production, logistics or warehouse environment.
