Job summary

CHEP South Ockendon is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to lead day-to-day production and yard operations, ensuring safety, quality and efficiency across shifts. You will manage a team of about 15 colleagues on a rotating 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm schedule, maintaining KPI performance and collaborating with engineering and site support to minimise downtime.

This hands-on leadership role offers opportunities for growth within a global supply chain platform.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day production and yard operations to ensure a safe, compliant and efficient working environment.
• Lead, motivate and support a team of operational colleagues.
• Monitor progress against production plans and take action to address any issues affecting performance.
• Carry out regular safety audits, shift checks and operational inspections.
• Ensure Health & Safety standards are maintained and promote a zero-harm culture.
• Support quality standards by ensuring correct operating procedures are followed at all times.
• Work closely with engineering, operations and site support teams to resolve issues and minimise downtime.
• Support absence management, return-to-work discussions and other first-line people management activities.
• Ensure colleagues have the tools, equipment and resources needed to perform their roles effectively.
• Maintain accurate operational records and support continuous improvement initiatives.
