Operations Supervisor

Location: Rugby (Transport required due to the location)

Working Hours: 4 on 4 off Days 6am - 6pm; 2 weeks Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm (training period)

Role Type: Ongoing temporary role with a good chance of permanent employment for the right candidate

Salary: £29,000

Our large distribution client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Operations Supervisor to join their busy team. You will work in collaboration with the Transport Manager and be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the site and driver workforce, ensuring:

  • Delivery of organisational requirements related to drivers, depot, and yard staff
  • Attendance and coordination of first-line HR matters with the Transport Manager
  • Support the Transport Manager in delivering data analysis
  • Identifying issues and seeking resolutions
Main Tasks
  • Reporting and escalation of vehicle and trailer defects to the fleet department
  • Completing daily risk assessments
  • Ensuring compliance with the Working Time Directive for the driver workforce
  • Recording and following up on DVSA stops
  • Proactive management of driver CPC records
  • Absence management
  • Handling new starter and leaver details
  • Managing driver holiday requests and shift variations
  • Vehicle maintenance coordination
  • Supporting management with driver compliance
Person Specification
  • Proven experience in the Transport & Logistics industry
  • Successful resource management skills
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Experience working with clear service delivery KPIs
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety processes
  • Energetic and positive attitude
  • Good people engagement skills and self-drive
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in customer-facing environments
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills, using data to inform decisions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Effective time management skills
Desirable Qualifications
  • CPC National Qualification
