Operations Manager
Contract: 26 hours a week
Line Manager: Chief Executive Officer
Responsibilities: Managing the operations of Bassetlaw Food Bank, its Community Hub, and additional services; liaising with external agencies.
Main Duties:
- Supporting the CEO; managing paid resources (including deputising as needed).
- Being a point of contact for staff, volunteers, supporters, external and referral agencies, and clients.
- Acting as a key ‘face’ of Bassetlaw Food Bank; networking on behalf of BFB; raising the profile of BFB; encouraging donations.
- Overseeing the operation of all BFB’s projects in tandem with one another.
- Ensuring the completion of daily/routine paperwork in line with operational procedures and role portraits.
- Responsible for good operational standards and working practices in the warehouse and storage areas.
- Reviewing and updating risk assessments, policies, and procedures; keeping staff and volunteers updated with Trustee-approved information.
- Ensuring all referrals are dealt with accurately and efficiently; being aware of clients’ confidentiality and dignity.
- Ensuring Health and Safety procedures are recorded and maintained; preparing for and actioning all Health and Safety audits.
- Ensuring Food Hygiene regulations are adhered to at all times in all BFB’s operations.
- Overseeing operational spending and other financial transactions in line with the budget.
- Ensuring all charity vehicles are maintained and compliant.
- Developing relationships with the outlying community to ensure access for all.
- Being a key holder for BFB’s sites and responding to call-outs as required.
- Any other duties that may be reasonably requested to ensure delivery of BFB’s aims and objectives.
Personal Specification:
- Strong communication skills
- Strong people management skills
- Ideally, experience in the Voluntary Sector
- The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Project management experience
- IT skills
- A willingness to work flexibly determined by operational priorities
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Safeguarding training to Level 2 or a willingness to complete this within the first three months in post
- Basic Food Hygiene Level 2 or a willingness to complete this within the first three months in post
