Job description

Operations Manager

Contract: 26 hours a week

Line Manager: Chief Executive Officer

Responsibilities: Managing the operations of Bassetlaw Food Bank, its Community Hub, and additional services; liaising with external agencies.

Main Duties:

  1. Supporting the CEO; managing paid resources (including deputising as needed).
  2. Being a point of contact for staff, volunteers, supporters, external and referral agencies, and clients.
  3. Acting as a key ‘face’ of Bassetlaw Food Bank; networking on behalf of BFB; raising the profile of BFB; encouraging donations.
  4. Overseeing the operation of all BFB’s projects in tandem with one another.
  5. Ensuring the completion of daily/routine paperwork in line with operational procedures and role portraits.
  6. Responsible for good operational standards and working practices in the warehouse and storage areas.
  7. Reviewing and updating risk assessments, policies, and procedures; keeping staff and volunteers updated with Trustee-approved information.
  8. Ensuring all referrals are dealt with accurately and efficiently; being aware of clients’ confidentiality and dignity.
  9. Ensuring Health and Safety procedures are recorded and maintained; preparing for and actioning all Health and Safety audits.
  10. Ensuring Food Hygiene regulations are adhered to at all times in all BFB’s operations.
  11. Overseeing operational spending and other financial transactions in line with the budget.
  12. Ensuring all charity vehicles are maintained and compliant.
  13. Developing relationships with the outlying community to ensure access for all.
  14. Being a key holder for BFB’s sites and responding to call-outs as required.
  15. Any other duties that may be reasonably requested to ensure delivery of BFB’s aims and objectives.

Personal Specification:

  1. Strong communication skills
  2. Strong people management skills
  3. Ideally, experience in the Voluntary Sector
  4. The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  5. Project management experience
  6. IT skills
  7. A willingness to work flexibly determined by operational priorities
  8. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
  9. Safeguarding training to Level 2 or a willingness to complete this within the first three months in post
  10. Basic Food Hygiene Level 2 or a willingness to complete this within the first three months in post

Please note that as this role may include working with vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be subject to a DBS check.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From £17,383.00 per year

Expected hours: 26 per week
