Job description

Accelerant is looking for an Operations Manager to join our UK and Europe Operations Team. This role will report into Operations Lead UK and Europe. You will work alongside the Sales & Distribution, Technology, Finance, and Outsourced Operations teams to manage data onboarding, premium, and cash management of specialty underwriters within Europe and the UK, whom we call members.

In this role, you will build relationships and gain intimate knowledge of our members' data, technology, and processes, becoming the point of contact for all data queries, problems, and solutions.

You will assist our members in analyzing and resolving data quality issues that impact data ingestion, regulatory compliance, and reporting, utilizing your knowledge and experience of applicable data standards.

Your role will contribute to the overall success of the Operations function, which is charged with transforming our data processes to deliver governed, timely, and high-fidelity data sources.

Key Responsibilities

Member Onboarding

  1. Manage operational due diligence and onboarding procedures for new members and business expansions.
  2. Coordinate and manage the bank accounts, systems, and regulatory reports onboarding procedures.
  3. Onboard new tax authorities and liaise with the tax department.
  4. Manage reconciliation between written & paid bordereaux against cash received and oversee the transition to outsourced operations team DUA & Credit Control teams.
  5. Liaise with members on invoicing procedures at the onboarding stage.
  6. Ensure the Member Crib sheet has extensive notes for both Delegated Underwriting Authority and Credit Control Teams.

Operations Management

  1. Manage operational procedures and adherence to controls.
  2. Manage the bordereaux and query resolution KPIs, creating an environment of continuous improvement.
  3. Provide Operations Health reports for the monthly member meetings.
  4. Deliver, alongside the team, the operational KPIs for onboarding, premium, and cash operations.
  5. Oversee collection procedures and act as a point of escalation for the Credit Controllers on difficult-to-collect cashes.
  6. Ensure that targets for debt are met and aim to continuously improve upon such targets with improved working practices.
  7. Investigate and resolve queries both internally and externally around outstanding items.
  8. Provide management oversight to the outsourced operations to ensure operational KPIs are met.
  9. Work closely with senior management to develop reporting processes, controls, and systems.
  10. Assist in the implementation of new procedures and maintain and improve internal controls to ensure compliance.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
  1. Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and flexible when dealing with significant operational change.
  2. Able to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines.
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills around highly technical items.

The technical skills and experience you’ll need to be proficient are:

  1. 5+ years of experience in property and liability insurance.
  2. Experience managing MGA Operations, with preferred experience in the specialty market.
  3. Articulate and confident in person, able to fit into a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to build relationships across different levels of the business.
  4. Excellent time management, attention to detail, and follow-up skills.
  5. Ability to work autonomously and contribute to team objectives.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools.
