Job summary

Health & Safety International Ltd (HASI) in Omagh is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day running of the business, coordinating training delivery, consultancy projects, resources and client service.

You will manage schedules, liaise with clients and senior management, oversee trainers and staff, and ensure ISO 45001 compliance, quality assurance, and efficient administrative processes as the company grows.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, scheduling and delivery of training and consultancy.
  • Act as a key client contact, ensuring high standards of customer service from enquiry to completion.
  • Coordinate trainers, consultants and materials, managing venues, equipment and course logistics.
  • Support quality assurance and compliance across accredited and non-accredited training.
  • Manage bookings, invoicing, records and reporting processes.
  • Assist with quotations, proposals and tenders for new and existing clients.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and day-to-day staff management.
  • Monitor health, safety and quality standards per ISO 45001.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and systems.

Job description

Health & Safety International Ltd (HASI) is a construction health and safety training and consultancy company based in Omagh, Co. Tyrone, with additional offices in Coleraine and Limerick. We provide a wide range of accredited and non-accredited courses, including CITB, CSR, GQA, IOSH, IPAF and NPORS, along with plant and machinery training, NVQs and on-site consultancy and inspection services, to construction clients across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain. Role Purpose

The Operations Manager will be located at our Omagh Head Office on a full-time permanent contract (subject to probationary period) of 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday. You will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of HASI, providing operational leadership and ensuring the effective coordination of training delivery, consultancy projects, resources, compliance and client service. The role works closely with the Managing Director and the wider HASI team to support the continued growth and quality of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of HASI, ensuring the efficient scheduling and delivery of training courses and consultancy assignments.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring a high standard of customer service from enquiry through to course/project completion.
  • Coordinate trainers, consultants and associates, managing diaries, venues, equipment and course materials for planned activity.
  • Support quality assurance and compliance across accredited and non-accredited training provision, working alongside the wider team on audit and certification requirements.
  • Manage administrative and operational processes, including bookings, invoicing coordination, records management and reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of quotations, proposals and tenders for new and existing clients.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and day-to-day line management of operational and administrative staff.
  • Monitor and help maintain health, safety and quality standards within HASI's own operations, in line with ISO 45001 and related management systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, systems and processes.

Person Specification
  • Proven experience in an operations, office or business management role, ideally within training, consultancy, or a service-based business.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and client-focused approach.
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and confidently, including under pressure or time constraints.
  • Experience leading and supervising a small team.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management, exercising judgement, discretion and confidentiality.
  • A strategic outlook, able to see beyond day-to-day operations and contribute to the wider direction of the business.
  • Good ICT skills, including confident use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and scheduling/booking systems.
  • A methodical, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle, with willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Experience within the construction, health and safety, or training sector.
  • Knowledge of construction industry skills cards (e.g. CSCS, CSR) and related site access requirements.
  • Knowledge of awarding body or accreditation requirements (e.g. CITB, IOSH, IPAF, NPORS, GQA).
  • Familiarity with ISO management systems (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 9001).
  • Experience using a learning management system (LMS) or training administration software.
  • A relevant third-level qualification in business, management, or a related discipline.
