Job summary

GBD FedEx Express UK Transportation Limited is seeking an Operations Maintenance Technician to support 40 hours per week in our UK facilities. You will lead organized machinery maintenance, monitor workflows, and liaise with depot management to resolve issues while upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have City & Guilds Electrical/Mechanical qualification.
  • Experience with electrical maintenance and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Knowledge of 16th/17th Edition electrical regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Organise team maintenance and equipment to complete operations safely.
  • Monitor workflow and escalate issues as needed.
  • Coordinate with Depot/Operations Managers to resolve difficulties.
  • Ensure smooth traffic transition across machinery with safety focus.
  • Complete nightly information recording sheets accurately.
  • Follow Group Operations Manual procedures to maintain service levels.
  • Return and maintain equipment in designated areas with reporting of defects.

Salary

£21.68 per hour. Premium paid for hours worked between 7pm - 10pm, and 10pm - 6am.

What you will be doing
  • Organised team maintenance and required equipment to ensure that operation and maintenance of machinery is completed safely, in the shortest possible time within the time scale demanded by operational necessities
  • Monitor workflow, be aware of potential problems and take immediate corrective action through delegation, own action or by referral upwards
  • Effective liaison with Depot and Operations Managers, Section Leaders and Control Room to resolve difficulties and enquirie's.
  • Ensure smooth transition of traffic across the machine paying attention to Health and Safety
  • Timely and accurate completion, on a nightly basis, of all required information recording sheets
  • Ensure that all operational and maintenance procedures, as detailed in the Group Operations Manual, available from the Depot Managers Office, are adhered to in order to maintain customer service levels to the required standard
  • Ensure that all equipment is returned to its designated area after use. Ensure the equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient working order and that an adequate system for reporting defective equipment is in use
What do you bring with you

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organised, hold a City and Guilds Electrical/Mechanical engineering qualification and have the following skills:

  • Knowledge of 16th or 17th Edition electrical regulations
  • Proven electrical/mechanical maintenance background
  • Ability to read electrical schematic drawings
  • Understanding of PLC controlled equipment
  • Flexible approach to shift patterns
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation
  • Full driving licence
