Job summary

GBD FedEx Express UK Transportation Limited is seeking an Operations Maintenance Technician to manage maintenance teams and ensure safe, efficient operation of equipment. The role is Monday to Friday with two shifts (07:30–16:00 and 17:00–01:30) and a salary of £45,093.53 per year plus night allowance.

You will oversee maintenance activity, monitor attendance and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while coordinating with depot and operations managers.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of 16th or 17th Edition electrical regulations
• Proven electrical/mechanical maintenance background
• Ability to read electrical schematic drawings
• Understanding of PLC controlled equipment
• Flexible approach to shift patterns
• Full driving licence

Responsibilities

• Organise team maintenance and equipment to ensure safe operation within time constraints
• Monitor staff attendance and take remedial action as needed
• Supervise maintenance team and complete required documentation
• Monitor workflow and address problems promptly
• Coordinate with Depot and Operations Managers to resolve issues
• Ensure safe traffic flow and adherence to health and safety standards
• Complete nightly information recording sheets accurately
• Follow Group Operations Manual procedures to maintain service levels
• Return all equipment to designated areas after use

Position Summary:

Job Description:

• Organise team maintenance and required equipment to ensure that operation and maintenance of machinery is completed safely, in the shortest possible time within the time scale demanded by operational necessities
• Monitor staff attendance and take relevant remedial action where necessary
• Monitor the performance of the maintenance team through continual supervision and completion of all documentation as required
• Monitor workflow, be aware of potential problems and take immediate corrective action through delegation, own action or by referral upwards
• Effective liaison with Depot and Operations Managers, Section Leaders and Control Room to resolve difficulties and enquiries
• Ensure smooth transition of traffic across the machine paying attention to Health and Safety
• Timely and accurate completion, on a nightly basis, of all required information recording sheets
• Ensure that all operational and maintenance procedures, as detailed in the Group Operations Manual, available from the Depot Managers Office, are adhered to in order to maintain customer service levels to the required standard
• Ensure that all equipment is returned to its designated area after use.
• Ensure the equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient working order and that an adequate system for reporting defective equipment is in use
