Job summary

As an Operations Engineer in Switchgear Digitalisation, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our electrical distribution systems. This 12-month fixed term contract will involve collaborating with various stakeholders to monitor and enhance the performance of switchgear systems, contributing to the energy transition and the future of sustainable energy.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Develop, review, and maintain engineering deliverables, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and system designs using EPLAN, EBASE, or equivalent tools.
  • Plan, coordinate, and track technical activities across the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with scope, timelines, and budgets. Bring a solid understanding of high-voltage systems, substation automation concepts, IEC61850 and other communication protocols.
  • Support end-to-end project delivery—from engineering through installation and commissioning—resolving technical issues and ensuring smooth execution.
  • Act as the key interface between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and customers to ensure clear communication and effective progress tracking.
  • Experience with hands-on testing, FAT/SAT execution, SCADA integration, IEC 61850 configuration, and commissioning of monitoring and substation automation systems.
  • Participate in technical discussions, FAT/SAT activities, and provide remote site support during commissioning, as required.
  • Management: Maintain accurate engineering documentation and manage revisions in line with customer requirements and project changes.
  • Ensure compliance with Siemens Energy quality standards and safety protocols across all activities.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Three plus years engineering experience in the industry.
  • Understanding of monitoring systems for switchgear, knowledge of transformer monitoring systems is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with EPLAN, EBASE, or similar tools, with the ability to develop and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Proven ability to coordinate engineering activities, track deliverables, and manage technical interfaces.
  • Exposure to installation and commissioning of grid/substation systems is preferred.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders; proficient in English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, international environment and manage multiple stakeholders.
