Boyden is partnering with a well-established B2B distribution business to appoint an Operations Director to help lead the next phase of growth. Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a high-impact leadership role within an established independent business serving the construction sector through distributors and builders’ merchants.

The Operations Director will carry full responsibility for a fast paced 130,000 sq. ft.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of operations and logistics teams in a distribution/warehouse setting.
• Experience managing multi-SKU, stock-led, service-driven businesses.
• Clear evidence of owning and improving operational performance.
• Experience managing inbound/outbound logistics with large suppliers/customers.
• Practical experience of digitisation and automation where sensible.

Boyden is partnering with a well-established B2B distribution business to appoint an Operations Director to help lead the next phase of growth.

Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a high-impact leadership role within an established independent business serving the construction sector through distributors and builders’ merchants.

The Operations Director will carry full responsibility for a fast paced 130,000 sq. ft. pick and pack operation with a high volume of SKUs across multiple brands, pallet and picking locations. The main site handles significant daily volume of inbound per day, and outbound dispatched daily in mainly high-volume small box picking.

The role requires a hands-on, practical, credible operations and logistics leader who understands warehouse operations and distribution dynamics, can lead from the front, and can improve team performance, accountability and execution. You will be self-starting, innovative and resilient with the ability to raise standards in a friendly and hard-working environment.

Key requirements

The successful candidate will bring energy and pace to the business that has further potential for growth. You will have proven success leading an operations and logistics team across a single or multi-site distribution / warehouse operation. Your career will demonstrate:

• A strong background in distribution, wholesale, trade supply, industrial products, hardware, components or adjacent technical products. Equally relevant are retail and consumer backgrounds in large warehouse operations.
• Experience in managing multi-SKU, stock-led, service-driven business.
• Clear evidence of owning and improving operational performance.
• Experience in managing logistics in-bound and outbound with larger suppliers and customers.
• Practical experience of improving digitisation and automation where sensible.
• Track record of building structure, discipline and accountability in an operations / warehouse team.
