Job Description:

Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Telent enables the technology behind everyday activities such as calling, internet surfing, and transportation. We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities within your designated area, including the M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

If you enjoy working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve problems in the field, this role is for you. Our engineers are vital in delivering and supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, and civils works, helping keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

Responsibilities include:
  • Attending to cable breaks and repairs on copper and fibre cables.
  • Completing all commissioning of equipment to standard, on time, and within budget.
  • Addressing equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets.
  • Performing maintenance and testing on fibre and copper equipment.
  • Completing required documentation promptly.
Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments, is essential.

Key Requirements:
  • Experience with motorway communications or related systems.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications networks, copper jointing, and fibre splicing & testing.
  • Strong health and safety awareness.
  • Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
  • Availability for overtime or callouts as required.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
