Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Telent is a technology company that enables everyday connectivity, working on high-profile infrastructure projects. We are currently recruiting for an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities within designated motorway areas, including M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

This role involves working with a supportive team and using your initiative to resolve field issues, contributing to the delivery of maintenance, installation, cabling, and civils works that keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

Responsibilities include:

• Attending to cable breaks and repairs on copper and fibre cables.
• Completing equipment commissioning to standard, on time and within budget.
• Addressing equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets.
• Performing general maintenance and testing on fibre and copper equipment.
• Completing all related documentation promptly.

Candidate requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with knowledge of fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments, is essential. Candidates must have experience with motorway communications or related systems, knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing & testing, strong health and safety awareness, and a full UK driving license. Overtime and callouts may be required.
