Job Description:

Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities within your designated area, including the M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

Join a supportive team and use your initiative to solve field problems. Your role involves delivering or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works, helping keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

Responsibilities:
  • Attend to cable breaks and repair copper and fibre cables to maintain network functionality.
  • Ensure all equipment commissioning is completed to standard, on time, and within budget.
  • Address equipment issues within Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets, day or night.
  • Perform general maintenance, commissioning, and testing on fibre and copper equipment.
  • Complete all required documentation promptly.
Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments, is preferred.

Key Requirements:
  • Experience with motorway communications or related systems.
  • Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
  • Strong health and safety awareness.
  • Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
  • Willingness to work overtime or on call as required.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
