Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote work possible)

Telent enables critical infrastructure for daily activities such as internet, transportation, and emergency services. We are seeking an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, performing maintenance and commissioning activities within designated areas including major motorways like M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

The role involves working with a supportive team, using your initiative to solve problems in the field, and delivering or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works to ensure the network's connectivity and security 24/7.

What you’ll do:

• Attend to cable breaks and repairs on copper and fibre cables.
• Complete commissioning of equipment to standards, on time and within budget.
• Address equipment issues within Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets, day or night.
• Perform general maintenance and testing on fibre and copper equipment.
• Complete all required documentation promptly.

Who you are:

You should have experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications or related equipment/systems.
• Knowledge of Telecommunication networks, Copper jointing, and Fibre Splicing & Testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair Fibre or Copper Cable breaks.
• Availability for overtime or callouts as required.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
