Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Telent enables critical infrastructure technologies used daily across the UK, from road networks to emergency services. We are seeking an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to support Highways England Contracts, performing maintenance and commissioning within designated areas, including the top of M25, M4, M11, and the bottom of M1, A14, M40, A1(M).

Do you enjoy working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve problems in the field? Our Engineers are vital in maintaining and supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works, ensuring the nation's infrastructure remains connected and protected 24/7.

Responsibilities include:

• Attending cable repairs for copper and fibre to maintain network integrity.
• Completing commissioning of equipment to standards, on time and within budget.
• Responding to equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets.
• Performing maintenance, testing, and commissioning on fibre and copper equipment.
• Completing documentation accurately and promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments, is preferred.

Key Skills:

• Experience with motorway communications or similar systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunications networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre and copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call as required.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
