Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, performing maintenance and commissioning activities within designated areas including the M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

Do you enjoy working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve problems in the field? Our engineers are vital in delivering maintenance, installation, cabling, and civils works, helping to keep the nation’s critical infrastructure connected 24/7.

Responsibilities include:

• Attending to cable breaks and repairs on copper and fibre cables.
• Completing equipment commissioning to standard, on time and within budget.
• Addressing equipment issues in transmission buildings and roadside cabinets, day or night.
• Performing general maintenance and testing of fibre and copper equipment.
• Completing necessary documentation promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications or related systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing & testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call as required.
• Full UK driving license.
