Job summary

Howden, a Chart Industries company, in Renfrew, is seeking an Operations & Apprentice Co-ordinator who will own and develop our apprenticeship programme while gaining broad exposure across Operations, HR and Learning & Development.

You will support 31 apprentices, work with managers, mentors and training providers, and help implement development plans, training activities and reviews. This is a permanent role with real career growth in a global engineering setting.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification, or relevant administrative/coordination experience.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Confident in building relationships with stakeholders.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in MS Office suite, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate apprenticeship recruitment activities (open evenings, interviews, onboarding).
• Support day-to-day delivery of the apprenticeship programme.
• Build relationships with apprentices, managers, mentors and training providers.
• Monitor progress and coordinate development plans and training.
• Organise regular apprenticeship reviews and programme meetings.
• Maintain training and compliance records.
• Coordinate safety-critical training across the factory operation.
• Produce reports for operational leaders.
• Support events, conferences and employee engagement activities.
• Assist with purchasing and general operational tasks.

We're looking for an Operations & Apprentice Co-ordinator to join our team in Renfrew. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a well-established apprenticeship programme while gaining broad exposure across Operations, HR and Learning & Development.

The role has become available following the promotion of the current incumbent, demonstrating the development opportunities available within the business.

Supporting 31 apprentices across the organisation, you'll play a key role in helping our future talent succeed. You'll work closely with apprentices, managers, mentors, HR and external training providers, ensuring apprentices receive the support, development and guidance they need throughout their journey.

Alongside this, you'll support a variety of operational activities, making this an ideal role for someone looking to build a long-term career in operations, people development, HR or business support.

What You Will Do

What Do You Bring?

An ideal candidate would likely have the following profile:

• A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification, or relevant experience gained in an administrative, coordination or customer-facing role.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence building relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
