Job overview

The Service Coordinator will work with our administrative service teams, and our clinical service teams in partnership with our Clinical Leads. To work well with our teams, you will need to be passionate about improving patient care and making our services a brilliant place to work for our people.

To co-ordinate administrative services in support of clinical service teams and assist the clinical service teams in the delivery of performance metrics. The post holder will support the continual improvement of hospital services to ensure the best possible care for the patients we provide services to and ensure a brilliant place to work for our team members.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop their experience, skills and knowledge in a friendly and empowering environment so that they are able to perform to a high standard in this role and also prepare for further career progression at the right time.

The post holder will also be supported to maintain a healthy balance between their personal life and their career, and access flexible working arrangements which are suitable to the needs of our services.

Main duties of the job

Provide direct line management alongside the Therapeutics & Palliative Care (TPC) Operational Manager for administrative staff.

Ensure the day-to-day workflow of the TPC admin teams is achieved, working with administration teams including PA’s, secretarial support and admin staff including team leaders.

In conjunction with the TPC Operational Manager develop, implement and monitor good working practices and protocols ensuring the provision of a high quality service.

Ensure the TPC admin rota’s are completed effectively and services are adequately covered during core working hours, escalating any issues that cannot be resolved to the Operational Manager.

To ensure that all admin and clerical staff are aware of all contractual targets and that they understand the role they play in the delivery of these targets.

To develop and maintain effective working relationships with administrative, nursing, clinical and management teams.

Work independently and be responsible for managing own workload

Ensure compliance of own and staff's mandatory training targets in line with trust policy.

Ensure that admin staff are appropriately trained to respond to the calls they receive.

Identify skill and knowledge base requirements and ensure individual training needs are addressed for all staff.

Participate in the recruitment of new staff and take an active role in staff induction, including organising training.

Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • 5 GCSEs including Mathematics and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of the full range of administrative policies and procedures, acquired through training and relevant experience
  • Relevant vocational management and leadership qualifications or training courses demonstrating a proven track of record of commitment to learning and development.
