Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is recruiting for a 3 month contract with a local authority to supervise Operational Services across Wyre Forest district. You will lead teams delivering Waste, Parks, Open Spaces and Street Scene, ensuring safe, high-quality public spaces and compliance with health and safety rules.

The role requires strong leadership, strategic resource planning, and a focus on service improvement, customer service, and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising operational or frontline service teams.
• Experience within grounds maintenance, parks, street scene, waste management or related operational services.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Experience organising and allocating resources effectively.
• Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
• Experience conducting site inspections and monitoring service standards.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to motivate and support operational teams.
• Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Ability to manage conflicting priorities and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead frontline Operational Services activities across Parks, Open Spaces, Street Scene and Waste services.
• Ensure public areas remain safe, clean and well maintained.
• Undertake site inspections and monitor service standards.
• Organise and deploy staff, vehicles, machinery and equipment efficiently.
• Ensure operational targets and service objectives are achieved.
• Support the delivery of projects and service improvement initiatives.
• Respond to service demands and operational emergencies as required.
• Lead, supervise and motivate frontline operational staff.
• Provide clear instructions and direction to teams working on site.
• Monitor performance and productivity.
• Promote high standards of customer service and teamwork.
• Support staff development and training activities.
• Ensure staff work safely and in accordance with procedures.
