Job summary

Amey is seeking an Operational Safety Advisor to join the Staffordshire County Council Highways Operations team on site at the ST16 2LP depot. You will support the operations team with incident investigations, risk assessment, and safety improvements to protect workers and the public.

The ideal candidate holds a NEBOSH qualification, has strong data analysis and planning skills, and can drive safety initiatives across the account.

• Good understanding of Health and Safety legislations.
• IT and data analysis skills.
• Planning and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate local incidents and accidents to support preventive actions.
• Provide account-level feedback on policy and procedure implementation.
• Observe, inspect and audit sites to identify safety strengths and weaknesses.
• Analyse data to identify trends and develop improvement plans with operations.
• Carry out regular site inspections to verify policy implementation.
• Support risk assessments and actions to reduce risk.

This role offers a competitive salary plus aCompany Car / Car Allowance

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday

What You’ll Do:

• Support the operations team on local incident / accident investigations assisting to implement effective preventive actions through a process of root cause analysis
• Provide account level feedback on effective policy and procedure implementation
• Apply safety knowledge to observe, inspect and audit as necessary to identify areas of strength and weakness
• Analyse data and information to identify trends within the account and develop improvement plans with the operations team
• Undertake regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
• Support the operations team to carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced
• Apply safety knowledge to observe, inspect and audit as necessary developing improvement plans with the operational team
• Stay abreast of developments in legislation, regulation and industry best practice through an ongoing process of formal continuing professional development
• Positively participate in account level Health and Safety Site meetings
