Job summary

L&Q is seeking an Operations Mentor in the Grounds Maintenance team in Greater Manchester. You will lead the on-site team, deliver hard/soft landscaping tasks, and mentor colleagues across sites, ensuring service standards and safety compliance.

The role requires a proactive leader with strong customer service skills, a full driving licence, and willingness to drive L&Q fleet vans. DBS clearance is required. This is a permanent, full-time position with typical 8am–4pm hours.

Qualifications

  • Willing to work mobile/field-based across locations.
  • Experience leading a team or demonstrable leadership.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Full driving licence; able to drive L&Q fleet vans.
  • PA1 and/or PA6 City & Guilds advantageous.
  • Chipping and chainsaw experience desirable; familiarity with tools/equipment.
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe handling.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the local on-site Grounds Maintenance team and provide mentoring.
  • Oversee day-to-day on-site tasks and ensure delivery to contracts.
  • Ensure time on site is accurately recorded and monitored.
  • Maintain high customer service standards and meet targets.
  • Act on customer feedback to continuously improve service delivery.

Job description

Contract Type: Permanent, Full time, 36.25 hours per week

Salary: From £30,387 per annum depending on experience

Grade: 6

Reporting Office: Manchester, Trafford

Persona: Mobile/Field Based Worker: Contractual hours to be worked from various locations such as resident home, estates etc, with ad hoc office attendance as required

Working Pattern: 8 to 4pm Monday to Friday

Join our Clean Start Team at L&Q:

We are looking for an Operations Mentor in the Grounds Maintenance team.

As part of our Grounds Maintenance team, you will work alongside other operatives and undertake grounds maintenance services to all contracted sites which include all aspects of hard/soft landscaping such as grass cutting, spraying for weed suppression, clearing leaf fall, and removal of unwanted growth from trees.

You will be tasked with leading the local team on site, mentoring team members with a diverse background and actively developing the team by giving constructive feedback. You will be responsible for ensuring our customer standards and targets are delivered, time on site is recorded and that the customers experience of our service is positive. You will be a proactive member of the team, actively learning from customer feedback to improve the service delivery.

What you'll bring:

  • Good understanding of relevant health and safety regulations in a corporate environment
  • Relevant experience of leading a team or demonstrable experience in leadership

  • Full, driving licence, you will be required to drive L&Q Fleet vans
  • PA1 and PA6 City and Guilds is advantageous
  • Chipping and Chainsaw experience is desirable, Experience of using a variety of equipment and hand tools
  • Knowledge of COSHH legislation
