Job summary

London and Quadrant Housing Trust is seeking an Operational Mentor for Grounds Maintenance. You will lead on-site teams, oversee grass cutting, weed suppression, leaf clearance and tree maintenance across contracted sites.

The role requires mentoring colleagues and ensuring high standards of service and safety on every site. You will manage time on site, respond to customer feedback, and contribute to safe, clean, and well-maintained communities while working from various locations with

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a corporate environment.
  • Experience in grounds maintenance tasks (grass cutting, weed suppression, leaf clearance).
  • Experience leading a team or demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to drive L&Q Fleet vans.
  • PA1 and PA6 City & Guilds are advantageous.
  • Chipping and chainsaw experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor on-site and lead the local grounds team.
  • Deliver contracted grounds maintenance services across sites.
  • Record time on site and monitor service delivery against standards.
  • Act on customer feedback to improve service quality.

Job description

Title: Operational Mentor Grounds Maintenance

Contract Type: Permanent, Full time, 36.25 hours per week

Salary: From £30,387 per annum depending on experience

Grade: 6

Reporting Office: Manchester, Trafford

Persona: Mobile/Field Based Worker: Contractual hours to be worked from various locations such as resident home, estates etc, with ad hoc office attendance as required

Working Pattern: 8 to 4pm Monday to Friday

Closing Date: 17th September at 11pm

Join our Clean Start Team at L&Q:

We are looking for an Operations Mentor in the Grounds Maintenance team.

As part of our Grounds Maintenance team, you will work alongside other operatives and undertake grounds maintenance services to all contracted sites which include all aspects of hard/soft landscaping such as grass cutting, spraying for weed suppression, clearing leaf fall, and removal of unwanted growth from trees.

You will be tasked with leading the local team on site, mentoring team members with a diverse background and actively developing the team by giving constructive feedback. You will be responsible for ensuring our customer standards and targets are delivered, time on site is recorded and that the customers experience of our service is positive. You will be a proactive member of the team, actively learning from customer feedback to improve the service delivery.

What you'll bring:
  • Good understanding of relevant health and safety regulations in a corporate environment
  • Relevant Grounds Maintenance experience

  • Full, driving licence, you will be required to drive L&Q Fleet vans
  • PA1 and PA6 City and Guilds is advantageous
  • Chipping and Chainsaw experience is desirable, Experience of using a variety of equipment and hand tools
  • Positive can-do attitude
  • Knowledge of COSHH legislation
