Job summary

The Newt in Somerset is hiring a Chef for The Angel Inn in Castle Cary. You will join the opening kitchen team, work across seasonal, produce-led dishes and collaborate with the Senior Chef to establish kitchen operations and standards.

You’ll complete an induction with The Newt in Somerset’s kitchen operations to understand food standards, processes and ways of working, contributing to a high-quality pub dining experience.

Qualifications

• Professional cooking experience in pubs/restaurants or hotel kitchens.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures.
• Ability to work in a busy opening kitchen and deliver consistent quality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present dishes to recipes and standards.
• Assist Senior Chef with daily prep and service, keep work organised.
• Receive, store and rotate ingredients; support stock counts and waste control.
• Follow HACCP, allergen, temperature monitoring and hygiene procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen; report maintenance or safety concerns.
