Job summary

The Newt in Somerset is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join the Staff Food team. You’ll help prepare fresh, tasty meals and keep the kitchen clean and well organised, with no prior experience required—just a willingness to learn and a teamwork mindset.

Role supports chefs, handles washing up, and ensures hygiene standards are met throughout a busy estate kitchen. Various hours available (24, 32, or 40 per week) with a potential quarterly performance bonus.

Qualifications

• No previous experience needed; bring a willingness to learn, a helpful approach and pride in a job well done.

Responsibilities

• Support our chefs with food preparation and occasional cooking.
• Wash up and keep kitchen equipment, utensils and workspaces clean.
• Help maintain a tidy, organised kitchen throughout the day.
• Follow instructions and food safety procedures to maintain high standards of hygiene.
• Assist in our staff canteens when needed, supporting the wider team.
