Job summary

EMBS Engineering is recruiting an Applications Test Engineer for a 6–12 month on-site contract in Derbyshire. You will test Windows-based applications in complex networking environments, ensuring functionality, usability and integration with network devices before release.

The role requires hands-on testing of Windows/.NET desktop apps, with relevance to networking systems, SNMP, and device management. SC/DV clearance is preferred and the project requires full onsite presence.

Qualifications

• Windows desktop application testing.
• Microsoft .NET-based applications.
• Functional, system, regression and integration testing.
• Test case and test procedure creation.
• UI and usability testing.
• Defect investigation and management.
• Networking technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, routing, switching).
• SNMP and network device management.
• Wireshark or equivalent network analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute test cases and procedures.
• Perform functional, regression, system and integration tests.
• Test Windows/.NET desktop applications and their interaction with networks.
• Validate workflows, usability and UI functionality.
• Investigate, reproduce and document defects.
• Analyze network traffic with Wireshark or similar tools.
• Support requirements validation and traceability with clear reports.
• Collaborate with developers and engineers to troubleshoot issues.
• Contribute to test automation where appropriate.
