Job summary

Rolls-Royce Winsford is seeking a Workshop Team Leader to manage a multi-skilled MRO team responsible for rail power pack repair, overhaul and testing. You will lead safety, quality and delivery objectives on the shop floor, coordinating across mechanical, electrical, cleaning and inspection operations.

You will develop the MRO capability, embed standard work, and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and process standardisation.

Qualifications

• Relevant engineering or manufacturing experience.
• Appropriate level of technical competency for the activities being supervised.
• Relevant leadership / supervisory experience.
• Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification.
• IOSH / NEBOSH or equivalent.
• Lean / Six Sigma qualification.
• Rail industry competencies.
• Proven experience leading a production, engineering or MRO team.
• Experience working within a safety-critical or engineering environment.
• Demonstrable experience of managing competing production priorities.
• Strong communication and people leadership skills.
• Rail engineering or rolling-stock experience.
• Diesel engine or power generation experience.
• Engine overhaul / refurbishment experience.
• Mechanical and electrical engineering experience.
• Heavy engineering or MRO experience.
• Experience of complex lifting and handling operations.
• Lean / Six Sigma experience.
• Experience implementing new production processes.
• Previous experience establishing a new production or MRO capability.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day delivery of the allocated rail power pack overhaul workload.
• Coordinate activities across mechanical, electrical, cleaning, painting, inspection and testing operations.
• Monitor progress and identify potential delivery risks at an early stage.
• Manage constraints and elevate issues appropriately.
• Ensure effective shift-to-shift handover.
• Maintain accurate production status and communicate progress to the Production Manager.
• Ensure resources are deployed effectively to maximise productivity.
• Support recovery plans where production performance falls behind schedule.
