Job summary

Confidential in Birmingham is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to support production planning and procurement activities onsite. You will generate and process POs from production forecasts, monitor inventory and reorder points, oversee stockouts and overstocks, and negotiate pricing and lead times with suppliers.

This role offers a stable, onsite environment with 25 days holiday, parking, and a Christmas shutdown, providing clear development opportunities within a niche engineering manufacturing

Qualifications

Manufacturing or engineering background would be an advantage.
Happy to be based onsite.
Purchasing or supply chain experience.
Knowledge of using MRP and ERP systems.
Experience negotiating prices and terms.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Generate, process POs based on production forecast
Monitor inventory levels and reorder points
Oversee stockouts and overstocks
Request PODs, resolve discrepancies, and handle damages
Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and lead times
Monitor OTIF performance
Run weekly stock and progress reports for management team
