Job summary

GTC Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join a specialist team in Stafford on a 6-month, fully onsite contract. You will test, diagnose, repair and calibrate mechanical equipment across a regulated environment, working to approved documents and OEM data.

The role emphasizes fault-finding, refurbishment and support for junior engineers, with a day shift starting at 7:00am. IR35 inside, BPSS, SC eligibility supplied by employer. Rate £23.28 per hour Umbrella.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 engineering qualification with a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• A Level 4 engineering qualification with an advanced/higher apprenticeship, or demonstrable equivalent engineering experience.
• Eligibility for EngTech registration under UK-SPEC.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical testing, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification and calibration.
• Fault-find and resolve equipment issues to module/component level.
• Work from approved engineering documentation, technical procedures and OEM data.
• Support equipment surveying, refurbishment and maintenance activities.
• Assess equipment condition and serviceable/unserviceable status.
• Develop repair solutions including reverse engineering where required.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and test procedures.
• Provide specialist engineering advice to colleagues and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and apprentices where required.
• Work within established engineering governance, safety procedures and legislation.
• Contribute to resolving urgent operational requirements and equipment issues.
