Job summary

Contracts Consultancy Ltd in Stafford is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a 6-month contract to work onsite. You will join a team managing a wide range of equipment within the GSE, performing diagnostics, repairs, maintenance and calibration, while adhering to approved documentation and timelines.

The role requires EngTech eligibility and a Level 4 or Level 3 qualification with related experience, plus ability to supervise juniors and contribute to testing procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must hold eligibility to meet the criteria of professional Registration of EngTech, in accordance with the UK-SPEC.
  • Level 4 qualification and advanced/higher apprenticeship; or Level 3 qualification, a nationally recognised engineering apprenticeship and some engineering experience within their discipline or specialism area.
  • Experience with planned/Ad-Hoc advanced repairs and equipment maintenance is expected.
  • Ability to produce and follow engineering documentation and test procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform self-directed tests, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification, calibration and manufacture of equipment down to module level using approved engineering documentation.
  • Hold self-certification; over-signing; certifying & conditioning of equipment.
  • Supervision, training and over-signing of junior staff and apprentices.
  • Carry out feasibility and development activity, including reverse engineering and creation of supporting engineering documentation/test procedures.
  • Use a combination of different IT software and provide specialist advice as required.
  • Work within a scheme of engineering governance and comply with all policy and legislation.
  • Previous experience in schedule maintenance and repair.

Job Description: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Stafford

Contract: 6 months from start date

Scope: Inside IR35, full-time onsite

Overview:

You will be part of a team that will handle a wide range of equipment within the GSE. You will assist in a variety of roles including planned/Ad-Hoc advanced repairs, using various sources such as Approved Source Information (ASI) or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) data.
Key services include. Surveying, repair, general maintenance, recommendations for modifications, you will take pride in adhering to schedules and budgets offering expertise in resolving Urgent Operational Requirements (UORs) for equipment lacking OEM support.

Duties:

  • Perform self-directed Test; Diagnostics; Repair; Maintenance; Modification; Calibration and Manufacture of Equipment down to module / individual component level using approved Engineering Documentation and techniques.
  • Hold Self-Certification; Over-Signing; Certifying & Conditioning of Equipment

Responsibilities (for example: Serviceable / Unserviceable / Scrap).

  • Supervision; Training and Over-Signing of Junior / Equivalent grade Staff & Apprentices.
