Job summary

Atomic Weapons Establishment in Aldermaston is seeking a Dangerous Goods Advisor to provide expert guidance on dangerous goods handling and compliance. The role involves consignment, labeling, and DG moves oversight, with opportunities to train others and improve processes.

Onsite work is required, and the role supports an innovative, safety-driven environment. Starting salary around £40,000, with enhancements based on skills and experience and UK allowances.

Qualifications

  • DGSA qualifications are an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience with hazardous materials or regulated environments is advantageous.
  • Training opportunities will be provided.
  • High personal integrity; able to handle confidential matters professionally.
  • Decisive under pressure with ability to challenge when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of dangerous goods advice
  • Consignment of dangerous goods (all classes including Class 7)
  • Marking and labelling packages compliantly
  • Approval of dangerous goods moves in accordance with AWE processes
  • Support to the delivery of training material
  • Inspection of moves
  • Find efficiencies and deliver continuous improvement through innovation
  • Attend operational meetings, supply information to support those meetings and contribute to discussions
  • Forecast demand
  • Develop and maintain dangerous goods documentation
  • Liaise with customers and deal with day-to-day problems regarding their orders in a polite and helpful manner
  • The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs
