Job summary

Atomic Weapons Establishment in Reading/Aldermaston is seeking a detail-oriented professional to provide dangerous goods advice and manage consignments on a fully onsite basis. You will label and document packages, approve moves, and support training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ideal candidates have or are progressing with DGSA qualifications, strong MS Office skills, and experience in regulated environments or training roles.

Qualifications

  • Previous Consignor or DGSA qualifications are an advantage, but not essential (as this training can be sponsored in the role).
  • Previous experience working with hazardous materials or in a heavily regulated environment is an advantage, but not essential (as training will be provided).
  • Previous experience in training others is an advantage, but not essential (as training opportunities will be provided).
  • High level of personal integrity, with the ability to handle confidential and otherwise sensitive matters professionally.
  • Ability to be decisive under pressure with the confidence to challenge and push back if required.
  • Proficient in using MS Office Suite. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Prior experience within customer service and administration.
  • You’ll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dangerous goods advice and consign moves in compliance with processes.
  • Handle consignments of dangerous goods (all classes including Class 7).
  • Mark and label packages compliantly and ensure proper documentation.
  • Approve dangerous goods moves per AWE procedures.
  • Support the delivery of training material and inspections of moves.
  • Identify efficiencies and drive continuous improvement.
  • Attend operational meetings and provide information to support discussions.
  • Forecast demand and maintain relevant documentation.
  • Liaise with customers and manage day-to-day order issues politely and helpfully.
