Job summary

ADS Laser Cutting Ltd, a family-owned metalwork specialist, seeks an experienced Assembly Manager to lead and optimise assembly operations. You will coordinate people, resources and production activity, drive continuous improvement and ensure safety and quality standards across multiple production areas.

You will develop a skilled, multi‑disciplined assembly team, report on KPIs, and work with Quality and Operations to meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years' experience in production or assembly management within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with ERP systems and digital production tracking tools.
• A proactive approach to improving processes, productivity and quality.
• Excellent communication across production, quality and management teams.
• Positive attitude towards innovation, change and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day assembly operations across multiple production areas.
• Plan and coordinate production activity to meet delivery, quality and productivity targets.
• Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks and implement effective solutions to maintain flow.
• Ensure assembly processes, SOPs, inspection requirements and health & safety standards are followed.
• Drive improvements in first-time accuracy, productivity, rework and on-time delivery.
• Collaborate with Quality to resolve non-conformances and customer issues promptly.
• Manage stock, consumables, and materials to prevent production disruption.
• Lead and develop a multi-skilled assembly team, including performance management and training.
• Monitor and report on production KPIs and use data for continuous improvement.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing, 5S and other improvement initiatives.
• Work with Production, Quality, Operations and other departments to meet customer requirements.
• Represent the Assembly function in production, quality and operational meetings.
