Job summary

Orion Electrotech in Gloucester is seeking two Assembly Team Leaders to take charge of a busy kitchen manufacturing assembly line. You will lead a team, ensure targets, quality, and safety, and drive performance improvements.

This hands-on leadership role requires people management, problem-solving, and the ability to keep production flowing across rotating shifts. Previous supervisory experience in manufacturing is essential, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and safe working

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' experience in a Team Leader, Shift Leader, or Supervisory role
• Experience managing teams within manufacturing/assembly/production
• Strong people management and attendance/performance handling
• Exposure to production drawings or BOMs would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and motivate assembly operatives across your shift
• Delegate workload and ensure tasks are completed effectively
• Manage day-to-day team performance and productivity
• Support holiday planning, absence management and disciplinary processes
• Ensure smooth flow of the assembly line and identify issues impacting production
• Work with management to resolve operational challenges
• Monitor stock availability and support material flow
• Review drawings and BOMs where required
• Drive continuous improvement and share best practices across shifts
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping

The Role

Reporting into the Assembly Manager, you will be responsible for leading and supporting a team within the assembly department, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you'll be expected to motivate your team, solve problems quickly, and use your initiative to keep production flowing efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

About You

We're looking for a confident and proactive leader who can hit the ground running and positively influence both people and performance.

You’ll ideally have:

• 2-3 years' experience in a Team Leader, Shift Leader, or Supervisory role
• Experience managing teams within a manufacturing, assembly, production, or engineering environment
• Strong people management skills and the ability to gain team buy‑in
• Experience dealing with day‑to‑day employee matters including attendance, holidays, and performance management
• The confidence to make decisions and resolve issues independently
• Exposure to production drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) would be advantageous
• An understanding of manufacturing flow lines, stock control, and production processes is highly desirable
