Job description

Here at N Brown, we champion inclusivity by making our customers look and feel amazing. We don’t believe that age, size, shape or background should stop anyone from feeling confident, stylish and happy with the way they look and feel. With our industry leading expertise in creating fashion that fits, we’ve been proudly breaking down these barriers for over 150 years. We help our customers to express themselves with stylish products, helpful services and flexible finance. Now, we’re moving forward together, embracing innovation and new technology, to continue to delight our customers.

Working here

You’ll explore everything the world of digital retail has to offer — asking questions, trying new things and chasing new opportunities. Combine this curiosity with the freedom to make your own decisions, take charge of projects and work flexibly, and you’ve got the perfect place to show your skills and learn new ones. It’s fast and furious here at times, but this just means something new and exciting is always on the way. So, if you collaborate, think on your feet, embrace innovation and love rising to a challenge, your work with us will have a serious impact on the business, your career and our customers’ lives. We are proud to be N Brown.

The Role

We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Online Merchandising Executive for a 6-month fixed-term contract to accelerate delivery of our Hierarchy & Taxonomy Project. This role is key to improving product discovery and the online shopping experience across our website and app.

You will play a critical part in executing customer-focused enhancements to web hierarchy, filters, and attribution - delivering value through seamless navigation and improved findability. Working closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across the Group, you will help drive this strategic project at pace by influencing areas outside of your direct control.

With a strong understanding of digital merchandising, product taxonomy, and customer journey optimisation, you will deliver value in a way that prioritises return on investment.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  1. Develop and help drive the Hierarchy & Taxonomy (H&T) roadmap, delivering this across Group, looking for opportunities to deliver at pace. Identify key opportunity areas for customer journey improvements to H&T that benefit the on-site customer journey, as well as working with SEO to drive organic growth.
  2. Work with UXR & CRO to develop and drive a research & testing strategy, interpreting & contextualising data that leads to value-added improvements to Hierarchy, Navigation & Filters.
  3. Work with Product Ops to delve into the detail of product setup and understand how to drive efficiencies and improvements to the input metrics such as product setup completion.
  4. Work with DT to drive technical improvements to product setup, data feeds and Search & Merch tools that benefit the customer purchasing journey.
  5. Work with Data Analytics to develop reporting to effectively communicate the value added through both input and output metrics.
  6. Effectively communicate progress and key metric reporting of the project to all levels of stakeholders.
What are we looking for?
  1. Experience in an Ecommerce / Online Merchandising role, with knowledge of Search & Merch.
  2. Experience with Web Hierarchy & BloomReach Discovery Platform.
  3. Analytical skills and understanding of key metrics such as Views, Conversion Rate, PLP > PDP Click-through Rate, and Demand per SKU with experience of GA4.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint & Excel.
What’s in it for you?
  • 24 days holiday (+ 8 bank holidays) pro-rated with the option to buy an additional 10 days.
  • Annual bonus scheme.
  • Enhanced maternity and adoption leave.
  • Company pension with up to 8% N Brown contribution.
  • Mental health support both internally and externally, including access to wellbeing champions and counselling services.
  • A range of financial wellbeing support.
  • Colleague discount across all N Brown brands.
  • Onsite café with subsidised rates and local restaurant discounts.
  • Life assurance and private medical insurance.
  • Paid volunteer time – a full day paid to volunteer for a charity of your choice.
Ways of Working
  • We offer hybrid working which varies across the business depending on the role. Our Head Office is located in the Northern Quarter in Manchester City Centre. We are well-connected by public transport and surrounded by cafes, bars, and restaurants.
  • Our full-time working hours are 36.17 per week over 5 days, with some flexibility around start and finish times to meet business needs.
  • Our promise to you: We’re an equal opportunity employer and value diversity. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, sex, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
Application process

Once you apply, we’ll acknowledge receipt and aim to respond promptly. We appreciate your interest in joining N Brown. Good luck!

Note: For roles with access to customer data, employment may be contingent upon a satisfactory criminal record check. Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify you from employment with N Brown Group.
